Shooting has come out ahead of football, rugby, golf and angling in a Sport England poll about people’s satisfaction with the sports they take part in.

The results are based on responses of 44,960 people to a survey and show that shooting has been ranked third of 46 different sports – one place higher than last year.

Shooting also came out ahead of football, rugby and golf last year and this year managed to overtake angling, pushing it into fourth place.

BASC’s director of communications, Christopher Graffius, said: “Shooting is one of the most rewarding sports for a wide age range.  The survey confirms the trends to wider participation that BASC is seeing.”

The results are based on responses from people age 14 and over in England, who take part in sport regularly.

Detailed results for all sports included in the survey can be found on Sport England’s website at http://www.sportengland.org/research/sport_satisfaction.aspx
