BASC is asking members to put their talents and experience to work for shooting by standing for the association’s elected Council. The deadline for nominations is at the end of January with the election results announced at the BASC AGM on 13th June 2015.
Candidates must be BASC members and need two BASC members to propose and second their nomination.
BASC chairman Alan Jarrett said: “The work of BASC’s Council is vitally important. BASC is the UK’s largest shooting organisation with a membership of more than 140,000. If you would like to give something back to shooting, then bring your knowledge and expertise to Council by standing in the 2015 election.
“In 2015 we will be working with a new Government. All the indications are that we are heading into political uncertainty at the General Election and that means that there has rarely been a more important time to stand up for shooting and stand for election to BASC Council.”
BASC chief executive Richard Ali said: “Council sets BASC policy and direction and oversees the running of the organisation. It is an important body for both BASC and for shooting.
“BASC works across numerous policy areas covering all aspects of shooting and conservation. Whatever Government is formed in 2015, BASC Council will be setting the pace for engagement and we need a wide range of knowledge and expertise on Council.”
BASC’s Council has 16 elected members and meets eight times a year.
