Fourteen South East Young Shots visited the New Forest on 25th October to take part in a Deer Management day.  The event was hosted by the New Forest keepers and the day began with an introduction to the history of deer management in the New Forest from keeper Graham Wilson.  They were then taken out into the forest by keeper Maarten Ledeboer to learn about the skills of identifying and tracking deer.  Keeper Patrick Cook then demonstrated deer stalking equipment and shooting techniques and the day was rounded off with a visit to the deer larder, where the Young Shots learned about carcass preparation.
