Two venues in Hampshire and Oxfordshire will be hosting special dinners next month to encourage more people to eat game meat.

The Brushmakers Arms in Upham and The Spread Eagle Hotel in Thame have teamed up with the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) to organise the Taste of Game dinners.

The Brushmakers Arms will be hosting an event on 4 February, where for £25 per head guests can enjoy a locally sourced game dinner while on 28 February, BASC has organised a Dinner & Dance hosted by the newly refurbished Spread Eagle Hotel in Thame.

Guests will enjoy a three-course game dinner, a complementary glass of wine and a bottle of BASC’s centenary beer Double Barrelled. This will be followed by dancing to the four-piece dinner band The Brass Farthings. This event, which costs £40, will be raising money for BASC and the Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust and includes a raffle and auction of lots supplied by the Royal Berkshire Shooting School, the Oxford Gun Company and Sportfish, Reading.

BASC regional officer for the south east, Jenni Thompson, said: “I am really looking forward to our forthcoming events which will be a showcase for wonderful, locally sourced and delicious game food and all in great company too – two events not to be missed.”
