YS picBASC South West England will host an introduction to country sports day for young people in Dorset on Sunday 8th May 2016.

Young people aged eight to 16 will get to take part in a variety of countryside activities including clay and air rifle shooting under the supervision of BASC-accredited coaches; learning about gundogs, pigeon decoying and more.

The day is being run in conjunction with Blackmore Vale Shooting and Conservation Society. Places cost £25.

James Green, BASC’s South West England regional officer, said: “Our Young Shots days offer an excellent opportunity to try something new in a safe and supervised environment; they provide a fantastic insight into the country way of life and importantly they have proven to be a great day out.

“No previous experience is needed as our coaches and volunteers are experts at helping newcomers to country sports. Book your space and come along and enjoy the day with likeminded youngsters and make new friendships that could last a lifetime.”

John Maiden, from Blackmore Vale Shooting and Conservation Society, said: “We have been helping BASC to run these days for the last eight years. The event continues to grow from strength to strength. It is such a great experience when you see a youngster smiling from ear to ear after they have broken their first ever clay. Don’t miss out on your chance to experience the countryside in a new way. The Young Shots days are always a great draw and spaces are limited so early prior booking is essential. We look forward to seeing you there.”

Booking forms are available from the BASC South West office on 01823 480903 or by emailing southwest@basc.org.uk
