BASC is offering its members a chance to take part in a dedicated two-day wildfowling experience at Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve later this month.

Bookings are now being taken for the event, which is open to experienced ‘fowlers and newcomers to the sport, and will be held on November 20 and 21.

The course will cover wildfowling legislation, safety, quarry identification, a guided tour of the NNR, mentored evening and morning flights and carcass preparation.

Open to BASC members, places cost £200 per person which includes one night’s B&B, evening meal and refreshments and a season permit worth £69.

James Green, head of wildfowling at BASC, said the experience provided “a truly unique experience and exceptional value for money”.

He said: “Lindisfarne is one of our most iconic wildfowling sites and we are delighted to be able to offer this fantastic opportunity to our members.

“The course is open to anyone who is interested in trying wildfowling for the first time or who simply wants to learn more.

“The course will cover everything you need to know and the guided flights will help to cement what you’ve learnt and ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience on the marsh.

“The course will finish at lunchtime on the 21st, finishing with instruction on preparing quarry for the table and those taking part will get to go home with some delicious recipe ideas.

“As an organisation we are always looking for new openings to promote and protect our sport for future generations.”
