Fifteen thousand pounds was raised by BASC North for Young Shots and conservation projects across the north of England at its annual fundraising dinner, sporting auction and raffle.

Two hundred people attended the event at the Inn at Whitewell in Lancashire on Saturday.

And £1,100 was presented to BASC at the Eden Gameshooters Dinner in Cumbria the previous evening.

Duncan Thomas, BASC North director, said the money would be invested in numerous Young Shots and conservation projects across the North of England.  Over the last 12 months, thousands of bird boxes have been made and placed by youngsters on BASC activity days in the region.

Mr Thomas said: “Well done to all involved for your hard work to ensure successful events and thank you to all those who kindly donated their time, experiences and money on the evenings.

“This puts us in a great position to build on the excellent work and results achieved already.”
