BASC’s interpretation of the newly issued government guidance is that deer stalking can be undertaken in England from Wednesday. This is not the case in Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales where the rules are different.

BASC has written twice (here and here) to George Eustice MP, Secretary of State for Defra, setting out how shooting can be undertaken in accordance with social distancing.

Given the likelihood of differing interpretations by different constabularies we are urgently seeking clarification from government and will be publishing any reply we receive. The latest guidance makes no difference to BASC’s previous advice on pest control which can be found here. Please check the BASC website for any further developments.
