BASC is calling on the Food Standards Agency (FSA) to deliver clearer documentation for shooters who put wild game meat into the public food chain.

The request is outlined in BASC’s response to an FSA consultation on its Wild Game Guide that has been running over the summer.

BASC’s response asked for clarity on the exemptions within the guide, updates to the terminology and improvement of the readability.

Nick Lane, BASC’s senior training officer, said: “The content within the Wild Game Guide has baffled members for years. This consultation provides the perfect opportunity to clean up the guide to ensure clarity. An easy to follow guide will benefit the shooting community and ensure the onward supply of game meat is of the highest quality.”
