Have you booked your BASC shoot visit yet?

The number of BASC shoot visits undertaken this year has reached more than 300 as the partridge season gets fully underway.

Such is the success of the shoot visits, our regional teams are on course to hit 400 shoots being involved in the offering by the close of 2021.

The shoot visits encompass a host of advice and guidance on best practice for game shoots, including:

• understanding and compliance with legal regulations; incorporating gamebird release on and near to designated sites, and post-Brexit game meat hygiene regulation requirements
• implementing the Code of Good Shooting Practice and risk assessments
• information on local and regional conservation schemes, with practical advice on delivering net biodiversity gains
• upcoming issues relevant to shooting, including the transition to sustainable ammunition.

BASC’s regional teams have also been on the ground delivering advice on species selection and siting of cover crops, woodland management, and release pen siting, size and construction. 

The visits also reinforce BASC’s zero tolerance policy towards raptor persecution and the organisation’s position on the future of lead ammunition and single use plastics. 

Key to the shoot visits is providing participants with the most up-to-date information available. As such our teams continually reviewing the briefings to ensure their relevance and accuracy. 

Shoot visits are open to all BASC-affiliated clubs, syndicates and gamekeeper members.
