BASC South West held a Young Shots introductory day in association with Blackmore Vale Shooting & Conservation Society on 24 June.

The event, which is held every two years at Hartgrove Farm, near Shaftesbury, is a great introduction to the world of shooting and country sports.

Young people aged eight to 16 enjoyed the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities including clay and air rifle shooting under the supervision of BASC-accredited coaches.

They also learnt about hide building and pigeon decoying, pigeon prep & cooking and got the chance to go on a conservation walk.

David Gervers, Director BASC South West England, said: “Our Young Shots days offer an excellent opportunity to try something new in a safe and supervised environment.

“No previous experience is needed as our coaches and volunteers are experts at helping all newcomers to country sports.”
