A Young Shots Introductory Day will be held at Killerton National Trust estate, near Exeter, Devon on Sunday 30th June. The event is organised by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) working with the Devon Wildfowling & Conservation Association and the National Trust.
Youngsters will learn about gundogs, hide-building and wildfowling. There will also be an opportunity to have a shotgun lesson with BASC-accredited coaches and to try air rifle shooting.
National Trust Rangers from Killerton will be demonstrating the countryside conservation work they carry out to take care of a 6,400 acre estate.
David Gervers, BASC’s South West regional director, said: “We are very pleased to be working with the National Trust at Killerton and the Devon Wildfowlers at this event. This is a new initiative for us and a great opportunity to bring country sports and activities to a wider audience.”
The event at Killerton starts at 9:15am and costs £20, which includes a goody-bag. The day is open to both BASC members and non-members. Places are limited so advanced booking is essential.
BASC young shots who get a friend to book on to the event at Killerton will be entered into a prize draw to win one of a range of prizes; from a shooting DVD from Westcountry Films to a free place on a BASC Young Shot Progression Day.
