Mark was only 8 when he was handed his first air rifle and swiftly moved onto his first shotgun at 12. He has a passion for shooting which has not diminished over 40 years.
Mark has shot clays, game and wildfowl, he stalks and has been Head Keeper on a large Somerset shoot as well as loading on Exmoor. He also enjoys training and working gun dogs.
Now, as a BASC Accredited Shotgun Coach Mark is able to share his enthusiasm for the sport by providing his experience and knowledge to others.
But what makes him happiest is helping someone to achieve their goal of proficiency with a shotgun as it provides not only ability in this area but a confidence which can be far reaching.
Confidence from shooting finds its way into other areas of life as Mark has seen this with novice guns old and young alike.
He works in all areas of the UK and is available for clay ground tuition.
In Somerset he has access to three coaching grounds to suit the individual needs.

My shooting experience commenced many years ago when, as a boy, I learnt to shoot air rifle. When I commenced work, my interest in shooting was encouraged because my employers still retained the old Home Guard rifle and pistol range that was on their premises and kept its status as an ‘approved range’. This range was open daily so there was no shortage of practise opportunity. I shot small bore and full bore rifle and pistol competitively.
Changing jobs, I lost the use of the rifle and pistol range so moved my interest to shotgun shooting. I am primarily a game shooter, mainly walked up rough shooting, but given the chance I will gladly spend time in a hide on the foreshore.

I have recently become a Shotgun Coach after over 40 years experience in all forms of shooting.
My aim is to introduce as many new people to our sport in a safe and enjoyable manner.
I offer personal lessons for individuals or groups on my private shooting ground on our Mid Devon farm away from other pressures and distractions.
I particularly welcome total beginners and intermediates and have the facilities to produce almost any target.
I also give airgun lessons and introductions on a 40 metre outdoor range and a 20 metre indoor range with all types of air gun and pistol.
