The benefits of shooting and angling were highlighted at a rural reception hosted by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) and the Angling Trust at the Liberal Democrats? conference in Birmingham.
BASC sponsored a novice retriever trial in
Leicestershire on 16 September. As well as underlining
our commitment to support our gundog clubs this
enables us to thank our hard-working volunteers by
inviting them to shoot on the day. Regional director
Steve Bloomfield picked the team from volunteers who
give up their free time year after year to work at game
fairs and other events that BASC would find hard to
staff without their help. The team shot well for a strong
field of dogs.
The UK?s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), is gearing up for the start of the pheasant shooting season on 1st October.
BASC Northern Ireland will run a Young Shots activity day on Saturday 24th September at Foymore Lodge Country Pursuits Centre, near Portadown.
In a bid to encourage women into game shooting we have organised three driven shoots this season. Each day is designed for those new to live-quarry shooting so you will be provided with a ‘minder’ to ensure safety.
