Following a hugely successful photographic competition, to celebrate the important role that dogs play in the field, BASC has announced the winner.

Billie Mackay beat off competition from more than 230 other entries to take home the top prize of a Musto Gortex coat worth £550.

Her photo featured three of her eight dogs; Finch, Vinny and Bear, who were all patiently waiting for beaters and picker ups to have lunch so they could get back to work.

BASC social media officer Victoria Chesters said:There were a huge amount of entries and it was difficult to narrow it down but with the help of BASC staff we managed to narrow down the top six and left the rest to the public.

“This competition has been a celebration of the roles of dogs in the field, the response has been overwhelming and shows that we value them both as essential tools in the field and friends.”

Billie Mackay said: “I’m super excited to have won the competition! Having a partner that’s a gamekeeper and living on an estate with my eight dogs, I have to battle through the elements on a daily basis so the jacket will be put to good use!

“Also, I’m sure my dogs will appreciate their mum looking fancy in her new jacket on the shoot!”

Lorraine Tannatt Nash, partnerships manager at sponsors Agria Pet Insurance, said: “We are delighted for our winner and runner-up, for taking such spectacular images that stood out against some very, very tough competition. Many congratulations to you both, and thank you for sharing such a stunning insight into your passion!

“Well done to everyone that entered #DogsAtWork – the standard of entries was incredible and a joy to look through.

“The team at Agria Pet Insurance is very proud to support the nation’s working dogs with insurance that covers them as they take part in the activities they excel at, and it is wonderful to see so many of them in action through these stunning photographs.”

Craig Hobbs was the runner up, winning a Tuffies Durasoft dog bed, worth £125.
