BASC has appointed former gamekeeper Steve Bloomfield as the new director of operations.
Bloomfield, who worked as a ‘keeper on the Bretby Park Estate in Derbyshire, has spent almost nine years at BASC and has been England director for the last three years. He takes up the new position in January.
As well as more than 30 years’ experience in field sports, game management and conservation, Steve is also a keen deer stalker, game shot and picker-up on local shoots.
Steve Bloomfield said: “I feel extremely privileged to be part of the senior management team and am sure that my extensive background in game and deer management and life-long experience of shooting and conservation will help shape and direct future policy on behalf of our members. We have an amazing, professional team at BASC and I am looking forward to working with them in this role.”
BASC vice-chairman John Thornley OBE said: “I am confident Steve’s appointment to this important position will be welcomed both within the association and the wider membership. His empathy and commitment to shooting sports has been recognised together with his unquestionable management skills.”
