BASC is advising members who live in Leicestershire that newly-imposed Coronavirus lockdown restrictions could impact their shooting. The changes affect Leicester city and parts of Leicestershire which border the city.
Gun shops and dealers are classed as non-essential retail business and those inside the defined area must close until the government relaxes the new restrictions.
Those who live within the lockdown area are advised against all but essential travel. This means that they should only go shooting if it is for essential pest control, or to undertake shoot management works essential to animal welfare. Any activity must be with permission of the land-owner.
Dan Reynolds’ BASC’s England director, said: “This is a fast-moving situation and there remains a great deal of uncertainly.
“Nevertheless, BASC continues to advise that people must follow the latest government advice, and that travel should be restricted to essential journeys.”
Leicester City Council has published guidance here and BASC continues to update its Coronavirus web pages with the latest advice.
