Cheers! A special beer will be on sale at a Cheshire pub to mark a game promotion campaign run by the UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).
‘Game’s On’ will be on sale at the Yew Tree Inn in Bunbury during BASC’s National Taste of Game Fortnight, which will run from 6th – 20th November.
National Taste of Game Fortnight is part of BASC’s ongoing Game’s On initiative which highlights the benefits of game as a delicious, inexpensive and locally sourced meat.
A food and drink festival will be hosted at the Yew Tree Inn on 13th and 14th November. Sixty local game dealers and food and drink artisan producers will showcase their wares at the Yew Tree Inn Cheshire Food & Drink Festival. A number of Cheshire-based chefs will put on game cookery demonstrations and give advice on game preparation.
Simon Hamlyn, BASC’s director of operations, said: “The launch of Game’s On ale and the Yew Tree’s food and drink festival are examples of the innovative ways in which people are being encouraged to enjoy eating game.”
Jon Cox, licensee of the Yew Tree and of the Bull at Shocklach, said: “Game’s On is a traditional English ale, hand crafted by the Altrincham-based Dunham Massey Brewing Company. It is a fantastically clean, hoppy, traditional English tawny ale.”
Numerous events and competitions have been organised as part of National Taste of Game Fortnight. Details and a number of tasty game recipes can be found at www.gameson.org.uk
