Campaigners warn licensing scheme to regulate release of gamebirds is ‘a threat to rural livelihoods’

Rural campaigners have criticised proposals for the introduction of a licensing scheme to regulate the release of gamebirds in Wales.

The Welsh Government is planning to bring in a licensing scheme to regulate the release of game birds.

BASC told the BBC that the Welsh government’s proposals to licence all gamebird releasing is another step towards a future ban on shooting in Wales.
