The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) has extended its highly popular National Taste of Game week into a fortnight-long event which will run from 6th ? 20th November this year.

Places available on BASC deer courses
Deer stalkers are being invited to take part in specialist courses run by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).
Carcass Inspection and Butchery courses will be run in Sevenoaks in Kent during February and March. One of the aims of the course is to teach candidates the skills required to undertake the basic carcass processing required for home butchery.

BASC aims to improve police understanding of shooting
Following a number of incidents, police forces are to be given information to help them identify people involved in lawful shooting. The UK?s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), has published a new guide, The Police Officer?s Guide to Shooters, which is designed to help prevent misunderstandings and reduce interventions by the police.

Shooting suspensions to be lifted in Scotland and Northern Ireland
Shooting restrictions put in place in Scotland and Northern Ireland because of the recent severe winter weather are to be lifted. A legal suspension of the shooting of waterfowl in Scotland will be lifted at midnight on Monday 18th January, allowing shooting on Tuesday 19th. A similar suspension in Northern Ireland will end at 8am on Thursday 21st January.

BASC ensures woodpigeon shooting remains legal in Wales
Following BASC?s intervention this week the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) has renewed a key general licence which makes it legal to shoot woodpigeons and other birds to protect crops. The ability to legally control woodpigeons is of paramount importance for farmers and BASC welcomes the fact that WAG have now corrected the situation.

BASC maintains call for local voluntary restraint of shooting in England and Wales
BASC is calling for voluntary restraint to be maintained where local conditions merit it across England and Wales for the shooting of ducks, geese, wading birds, coot and moorhen because of the winter weather. Shooting of waterfowl has been legally suspended in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The United Kingdom?s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), has launched what is believed to be the first fully online and interactive election campaign. It will comprehensively cover all candidates in the next General Election and allows voters to quickly access the candidates standing in their own constituency and to canvass their views on shooting in the U.K.
