BASC is encouraging its members, who shoot along the coast in England, to find out more about Defra?s Coastal Change Policy as it could provide them with new shooting opportunities.
Novice shooter Richard Hastings recently visited a game fair at Harewood House near Leeds where he had a lesson with a BASC shotgun coach.
The Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Nick Herbert MP, has spoken of his support for shooting sports. The minister was speaking at the Rural Reception which is held at the three major conferences by BASC and The Angling Trust.
BASC has seen a record number of people joining the association in September. More than two thousand new members joined BASC last month which is the highest number of memberships taken during the month of September for at least ten years.
The first ?BASC Wildfowlers Challenge? was held on 3 October at Field of Dreams, Bangor. It was organised as a fundraiser for Strangford Lough Wildfowlers and Conservation Association but a percentage of the money raised will be donated to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
BASC members will have another excuse to eat out this autumn thanks to a new partnership with The Great Inns of Britain.
BASC has ensured that a possible ban on the sale of woodpigeons has been averted. Natural England?s draft general licences, under which woodpigeons can be legally shot, included a condition that would have resulted in a ban on the sale of their meat.
The WHCT has appealed for more people to donate money so it can continue to award grants.
