Nestled in the hills of the Peak District, Hulland Shoot is opening its drives to welcome shooting enthusiasts to its first season under new management.
Set within 500 acres which are currently being nurtured back to their former glory, the estate boasts some of the most beautiful and impressive drives of pheasant, partridge and duck.
BASC will host a number of events to help people improve their shooting skills.
The third BASC range day of 2012 was held at the British Sporting Rifle Club, Bisley on 16 August 2012.
Young Shots in the South West of England will have a number of opportunities over the coming months to increase their knowledge, hone their skills and enjoy some fun and informative days.
On 11 August the south east regional centre hosted the first ?Introduction to woodpigeon shooting? course held in the region. Those attending ranged from the total novice to those whom had dabbled in pigeon shooting for a number of years without major success.
By popular demand, BASC South East held their second ?impromptu? young shots day at Plumpton agriculture college, Plumpton, East Sussex on 7th August 2012.
Today during a visit to the Kent Wildfowling and Conservation Association?s Cooling Reserve, Dan Reynolds, the BASC South East Regional Director presented Gareth Salvidant with a special award from the Wild Spaces Fund to recognise his valued contribution to Conservation and Wildlife.
Back in May of this year, I had the special pleasure of teaming up with Chris Green, ‘The Cornish Countryman’ and film-maker at ‘West Country Films’. Young rooks were on the menu down on the flat lands of Somerset, and to complete his brand new crow shooting DVD, I conjured up a rook pie with seasonal asparagus topped with creamy potatoes, wild garlic, smoked bacon, all encased in shortcrust pastry glazed with Somerset apples – washed down with a fine award winning Derbyshire ale!
In a new initiative, Gamekeepers in Tandridge have security marked their birds by colour-coding their feet and legs in a special paint which can be easily identified should they be stolen. The paint has been made specifically for livestock and is not harmful to the birds.
