A teenager from Hampshire has become the BASC .410 World Champion. Seventeen-year-old Connor Gorsuch achieved a score of 49 out of a possible 50 points to become the winner of the junior class and the overall winner of the competition.
The event was held at the Mid Wales Shooting Centre in Trefeglwys, Powys, and was organised by the UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC). Competitors shot a variety of clay targets using the smallest calibre shotgun in general use. There were more than 100 entries in this year’s competition.
Phil Smith came first in the open class with a score of 47. Linda Pearson came first in the ladies’ class with a score of 40. Bill Pennington came first in the BASC member class, a new category this year, with 44 points and Adrian Pope won the pool shoot.
Gamebore Cartridges sponsored the competition and donated 3,000 .410 cartridges as prizes. The winners of each class received Gamebore cartridges, prizes from Mid Wales Shooting Centre, a silver salver, a trophy and a BASC goodie bag.
As the overall high gun in the competition, Connor was also presented with the .410 World Championship Challenge Cup.
