BASC has cancelled this year’s Countryside Clay Shoot, which had been due to take place at the West Wycombe Estate in Buckinghamshire on June 20th, due to Coronavirus.

Steve Bloomfield, BASC’s executive director of shooting and operations, said a new date would be announced in due course.

He said people who had booked would be contacted.

The event was due to be held in support of 2020 Year of the Gamekeeper – an initiative launched at last year’s Game Fair to support, raise the profile and ensure the future of the Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust (GWT).

Ways are being looked at to extend the crucial awareness and fundraising initiative into next year.

Mr Bloomfield said: “It is of course hugely disappointing that we have had no alternative other than to cancel this popular annual event.

“This year the Countryside Clay Shoot, along with a sporting auction filled with some fantastic lots, formed a major part of the 2020 Year of the Gamekeeper initiative.

“The event was in support of the Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust and we will re-schedule for next year and announce the date soon.

“The ‘Year of the Gamekeeper’ will now be extended into the 2021/22 season so please continue to keep an eye key dates and events so we can bounce back once we get through this difficult period.”
