Join us for the first BASC Women in Shooting simulated Macnab

Marina Gibson

The first ever BASC Women in Shooting simulated Macnab comes to the beautiful Swinton Estate near Masham in North Yorkshire this October.

Following the course of a traditional Macnab, attendees will get the chance to fly fish, shoot at a variety of rifle targets and enjoy simulated walked up grouse. All abilities are welcome and each activity will be tailored, whether you’re an old hand or have never picked up a fly rod, rifle or shotgun before.

Fully-catered, you’ll also receive bacon rolls on arrival and a fabulous game BBQ for lunch, all based from the stunning Deer House at Swinton.

Thanks to the Northern Fishing School, which is based on the Swinton Estate, you will be given fly fishing tuition by Marina Gibson and her team. The team of coaches will cover equipment and rod set up, casting technique, plus the opportunity to put your skills to the test on the lake.

One-to-one rifle shooting tuition with a BASC-qualified coach is the second of the day’s activities, using both rimfire and centrefire rifles. The coaches will run you through safety, zeroing, and shooting from a range of positions and distances.

Walked up grouse is the final of the trio, simulated with clays. Again you will receive one-to-one clay shooting tuition with a BASC-qualified coach including gun fit, eye dominance, gun mount, safety, etiquette and of course the shooting itself.

You can enjoy what is set to be a truly memorable day, set in wonderful surroundings, for £150 per person.

The event is open to BASC members only and you must be over the age of 17, but you need not hold a firearms or shotgun certificate to attend.
