richard fussellA former Olympic skeet shooter has taken on a new role at the UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).

Richard Fussell, who is also a former Wales under 20 international rugby player, is the new training and development officer at BASC.

He has been shooting competitively from a young age, winning a silver medal in the universal trench discipline in the FITASC British Grand Prix ’77 at the age of 12, and went on to win two consecutive gold medals.

Richard said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be working with BASC. I’ve been shooting since I was a boy and it’s a huge part of my life. Overseeing BASC’s training courses is a big responsibility and one that I look forward to.”

Duncan Greaves from BASC Council said: “BASC’s training courses are vital in helping to promote and protect shooting sports by establishing and maintaining high standards through education, training and best practice. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Richard to BASC. I look forward to working with him in the future.”
