BASC Council elections candidates

National seat

Luke Green

Region: Buckinghamshire
Proposed by: T Finchett
Seconded by: M Hughes

From an early age, I spent time learning to shoot and spending many cold weekends in the beating line or fishing with my uncle who was a gamekeeper. After university and a long period in the music industry, I got back into the outdoors lifestyle and currently help as an underkeeper on a family shoot in Buckinghamshire.

I enjoy spending time with friends and my extended outdoor family including my wife, two children and English springer spaniel out in the field, at clay grounds, or fishing. Most of all, I find it hugely rewarding to introduce people to our sport at my local shooting range, especially the younger generations.

I am conscious of the passion BASC members hold, but I am also massively aware of the pressures and threats our way of life faces. As a result, I am keen to be able to offer my experience and support to ensure that future generations can continue to learn about and experience the wonderful things shooting and conservation work have to offer.

My experience as a director, non-executive director and as consultant will be put to good use as a council member. I hope that my knowledge surrounding branding and business will provide additional insight to the team at BASC and help them evolve and grow the association. Most importantly, I hope to be able to bring my previous experience as a director of commercial companies to challenge the existing team to make sure the voice of members is being heard with my customer-driven brand focus.

In business, my drive is to make sure the voice of the customer (or in the case of BASC its members) is heard and that everything that it does serves to not only support the fantastic activities its members enjoy but also to cultivate future generations of people into what I see as a like-minded family group.

I was concerned when asking friends to nominate my application to BASC Council just how many had left the association for varying reasons over the last few years to join other organisations. If I am elected to the council, my primary focus will be to continually support members and non-members in an effort to re-grow and strengthen the ranks of what I truly believe is the cornerstone of the outdoors community.
