As part of an ever-growing number of educational and practical courses, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) has launched the Game Shooter Certificate 1 (GSC1).

Intended for the novice Gun, the BASC course provides an insight into and a wider understanding of game shooting. The day and a half-long course will give participants the knowledge to improve success and ability in the field.

Topics which will be covered include most importantly safety and the laws surrounding shooting, as well as general etiquette and behaviour on a shoot day and an introduction to gundogs. The course will finish with a safe shot assessment and a range-judging exercise.

Nick Lane, BASC’s senior training development officer, said: “BASC is delighted to be providing another high-quality course that will open the door to many novice shooters.

“The feedback from the course has been sublime and we are excited to roll it out across the country in the coming months.”
