Connor is crowned BASC .410 World Champion

A teenager from Hampshire has become the BASC .410 World Champion. Seventeen-year-old Connor Gorsuch achieved a score of 49 out of a possible 50 points to become the winner of the junior class and the overall winner of the competition. The event was held at the Mid Wales Shooting Centre

BASC urges caution and evidence-based investigation of missing hen harriers

The UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) has expressed its disappointment and concern at the apparent loss of contact with two satellite-tagged hen harrier chicks in Lancashire. BASC is urging all parties to exercise a pragmatic, common sense and evidence-based approach in support of the investigation. Speculation is both unhelpful and may be counterproductive.

Firearms fees must be evidence-based

Firearms licensing fees must be set on the basis of sound evidence and due process in line with the principles of better regulation and Treasury guidelines according to the UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).
Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has suggested that an increase in fees could “help to save” the jobs of one thousand police officers.

Steve and Tyke celebrate BASC Chudleys scurry league win

Steve Blackwell from Lancashire and his springer spaniel Tyke won this year’s BASC Chudleys scurry league final at the Midland Game Fair. This year’s competition has proved the most popular so far with more than 1,500 entrants taking part in 89 qualifying scurries at 11 game fairs across the country. One hundred and nine people gained points in the league with the top 20 competing at Weston Park.
