Compulsory testing plans scrapped for Scottish deer stalking

Planned compulsory competence testing for deer stalkers in Scotland has been scrapped after extensive lobbying from the deer sector including the UK?s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC). This proposal had been expected to be part of the Wildlife and Natural Environment Bill but this particular proposal has now been shelved. The latest move in a mass lobbying campaign aimed at preventing serious restrictions on shooting and conservation in Northern Ireland has seen the UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) present a petition to the Province’s Environment Minister Edwin Poots.

Bumper crowds attend BASC Gamekeepers? Fair 2010

More than 12,000 people flocked to a gamekeepers? fair hosted by the UK?s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).
Crowds soaked up the sunshine as they watched displays, browsed stalls and took part in events at the fair at Catton Park, Derbyshire, on 17th and 18th April.
