Name: Hannah Gibson
Age: 25
Based: Just outside Brighton
Gun: I shoot a 12 bore Krieghoff Parcours. But I started on a 20 bore Beretta Silver Pigeon that I used for a year before switching to a 12 bore as cartridges were cheaper!
Ground of Choice: A tricky one, I enjoy shooting new grounds and different back grounds. I started shooting at Northall CPC and I work there when I can on a Saturday. So for me Northall holds a lot of special memories from when I first started shooting.
How did you get into the sport: My dad is a keen clay shot; growing up I played a lot of different sports. Dad was out most weekends shooting and I kept badgering him after Charlotte Kerwood won her gold at the Commonwealth Games. I was like, “Dad, girls can shoot – can I give it ago?” Reluctantly he gave in!
Wins: For me this season has been amazing. I made the Great Britain team and the England team. I also won the British Open Sporttrap. I also hit the magic 90+/100 on Sporting which I was thrilled about and set a new PB.
Coach: My coach is Mark Winser. I have had lessons from Mark for the last three years since I moved from Olympic Skeet to Sporting. My dad also helps me as well
Goals: Long term goals for me are to win a world championship. But at the moment I want to keep enjoying it, improve my technique and gain more competition experience
Shooting Highlights: My favourite part of the season has got to be representing Great Britain and England. There are such a great group of ladies who shoot, we all get on so well. We support each other and have a real laugh as well. To stand on the podium and win gold at three different events as a team was fantastic!
Inspiration: My inspiration has to be Desi Edmunds, she is killing it at the moment. She is an American shooter whom I saw last year at the World Championships at EJ Churchill’s and thought she was awesome! She has really raised the bar in women’s shooting
Advice: My advice for ladies shooting is, don’t be intimidated by men in the industry – you have just as much right to be shooting as them. Confidence is key and, most importantly, enjoy it!
