Having not missed a day’s beating all season, Melissa was offered the chance to pick up a gun for the first time on live quarry. She had only held a gun three times previously, once at Kelmarsh under guidance from a BASC tuition and twice under Bruce Marks at Grange Farm in Wittering.
With one partridge and one duck downed, she beamed from ear to ear, and her delighted dad was on hand to pick up the birds as he is the head picker-up at the shoot.
To top it off, Melissa also debreasted the duck and prepared it Chinese-style with pancakes and hoisin sauce for her school lunch. A fine example of kill it, cook it and eat it!
