Donate and Support

To help minimise subscription rises and to keep on delivering in key areas, donations are a great help.

Many of our members want to give that little bit extra; £1, £5, £10 or sometimes even more to help fund specific projects that are close to their heart. Every donation will be spent on the project you support, all you need to do is to pick one or more.

Our work at BASC is funded mainly through your membership subscriptions but it is greatly enhanced by generous donations from members and others who are passionate about their shooting.

Gifts have enabled BASC activity to be enhanced by focusing on specific areas, to achieve more than we could otherwise have done.

With your help and support BASC can enhance our delivery of core objectives, as well as providing much more to secure the future of shooting and our countryside.

Whether you choose to give a one-off amount or a regular monthly gift, every penny donated will be wisely invested in the future of shooting and our countryside.

Members can donate online by logging into the members area 24 hours a day or by calling the membership team on 01244 573 030.

Projects

BASC is giving a significant boost to its work with young people. The reason is simple and goes to the heart of what BASC stands for; the promotion and protection of the sport we all love.

The survival of shooting depends crucially on numbers and with more than a million people involved in shooting, the overwhelming majority are over 40.

Increasingly children are brought up with little direct contact with the natural world, no knowledge of shooting and a scant understanding of the countryside. BASC’s task is to raise awareness of the benefits of shooting among the wider public and particularly among young people.

BASC already do an enormous amount of work to encourage and coach young people into shooting through its Young Shot programme. As well as taking our message to school children who have little or no opportunity to understand countryside ways, we have just created a new head of pathways to shooting role that will focus on achieving this.

You can support this programme by offering sporting opportunities to Young Shots at your syndicate, wildfowling club or clay pigeon shoot.

What does BASC do for young people?

  • Our country and regional teams stage over 50 Young Shots’ Days each year attended by over 1500 young people.
  • Our shotgun coaching displays at country shows give thousands of coaching lessons to young people.
  • Working with the Scouts BASC attends several Scout Jamborees each year coaching thousands of Scouts.
  • BASC takes young people out on shoots to see the conservation benefits of shooting
  • Through a generous individual donation, we commissioned a Conservation Explained teaching resource aligned to the national curriculum to give a balanced understanding of shooting and wider countryside issues.

We want to do more

Our appeal aims to:

  • Expand the BASC Young Shots programme to include suitable “progression” days including simulated game shooting and their first live quarry shoot.
  • Attend more events to reach out to even more children especially those from urban backgrounds.
  • Further develop and promote our resources for teachers by attending conferences, advertising in teacher publications and websites, and producing promotional materials.

How can you help?

Our current work with young people costs more than £250,000 each year but resources are limited.

You make a donation and help us to ensure that shooting sports is promoted and protected.

To offer practical support to our Young Shots programme or become involved, please contact the BASC marketing team on 01244 573 012 or email.
