Gundogs galore at Crufts

As Crufts approaches, we look back on last year’s gundog day at the biggest dog show in the world and what to expect if you plan on going.

Within the thousands of dogs which end up in rescue shelters every year, are many who have the potential to find a new life as a working gundog.

The value of a well-oiled picking-up team can’t really be overstated. After all, accounting for every bird shot should always be the end goal.

Two ‘besties’ stole the show at Crufts when they took part in BASC’s Young Handlers classes at the world’s biggest dog show last week.

A Welsh springer spaniel has been crowned overall winner of the BASC gamekeepers’ classes on Gundog Day at Crufts 2023.

Gundog Day kicks off Crufts 2023 tomorrow, with BASC’s gamekeeper rings hosting 20 classes for working dogs at the world’s biggest dog show.

The classes, which are open to gamekeepers, owners of working gundogs, gundog teams and young handlers will be held on Thursday 9 March 2023.

The BASC Scurry League returns this weekend at the Kelmarsh Show, which takes place on Easter Sunday and Monday.
