BASC and the GWCT have teamed up again to deliver a course designed to improve best practice on DIY and farm shoots.
The course is aimed at shoot captains, syndicate members and anyone that manages their own small shoot.
The course aims to provide guidance on how your shoot could improve and better adhere to best practice methods.
It provides an opportunity to be with like-minded people and ask key questions which could benefit and improve your shoot.
The event will be talking place on Saturday 14th May 2022.

The course will be held on Saturday 14th May 2022. Course candidates will need to arrive at 9am for a 9:30am start. The course is predicted to finish around 4pm.
It will start with an interactive classroom session where we will discuss preseason requirements, shoot briefings, safety in the field, gun/choke/cartridge combinations and health and safety. These are all key elements which are written about in The Code of Good Shooting Practice and The Knowledge.
The afternoon session starts with a presentation about the GWCT Allerton project before doing a shoot walk around the site.
This season will be aimed at improving shoot management while learning about the latest best practice in predator control, cover crops, supplementary feeding and game bird releasing.
Recent GWCT research has led to the development of guidelines for gamebird releasing that maximise broader conservation benefit while minimising any damage caused by the birds themselves.
Following best practice guidelines, utilising predator control and planting the optimal cover crops will help shoots to maintain the health and welfare of their birds, ensuring good returns and high-quality sport. All these issues will be addressed during the course.
