Game Shooter Certificate 1

Aim

BASC’s Game Shooter Certificate 1 course is designed for the sportsman or woman who has recently taken up game shooting, or is seeking further advice and guidance.   

The course will provide an insight into and a wider understanding of game shooting and improve success and ability in the field.  Successful delegates will be awarded the BASC Game Shooter Certificate 1. 

If bringing your own shotgun, it must be suitable for game shooting.  Cartridges should be factory produced (no home loaded cartridges) and a standard steel shot game load.  Shotguns will be provided for those who do not own one. 

Demand for the GSC1 courses is usually very high and places are allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis. 

Course content

The course will cover a number of areas:

  • Safety
  • Firearms law and shotgun shooting
  • Before the day, on the day, end of the day
  • Etiquette
  • Cartridges
  • Taking the shot
  • Gundogs
  • Quarry and the law
  • Game shooting

The second day will focus on assessments:

  • General written paper 50 multiple choice questions

Followed by a practical assessments:

  • Safe shot assessment covering safety in the field and shooting clay targets
  • Range judging exercise

The day will end with a constructive feedback session with BASC staff and coaches who will answer any of your questions and take on board your feedback. If you are interested in taking part in one of these courses, please book early to avoid disappointment.

    Should there be insufficient bookings, BASC reserve the right to cancel the course. In the interests of fairness BASC will aim to provide candidates with notification of cancellation as soon as possible prior to the advertised start date.

    We strongly recommend that fees for any accommodation you book are refundable as BASC will not be responsible for any losses incurred by candidates.
