A North Yorkshire man has won the British Association for Shooting and Conservation’s (BASC) centenary photography competition.
BASC members were invited to submit photographs which for them captured the essence of shooting. The competition was sponsored by Olympus UK who provided the superb prizes for the senior and junior winners.
Following an initial sifting the pictures were put to a panel of distinguished judges including the royal photographer the Earl of Snowdon, Olympus UK’s managing director Graeme Chapman, and the features editor of The Field Sarah Fitzpatrick.
The winner of the senior competition is David Hunwick from Stokesley whose prize is a top of the range Olympus E-410 Double Zoom kit. This superb new ultra-compact SLR comes with a standard 14-42 mm lens and a 40-150 mm telephoto lens. The prize also includes a Lowepro Stealth Reporter case.
The Young Shots winner is Harry Leeming from Kelso. His prize is an Olympus Mju 770 SW which is one of the toughest pieces of kit on the market.
The runner up is Peter Biebrach from Oxfordshire who wins a leather-bound limited edition copy of The Sporting Century – the fascinating history of WAGBI, BASC and the fight to protect shooting over the past century. Highly commended are D.R. Phillips of Colwyn Bay and Jacki Thomas of Wrexham who both win a standard edition of The Sporting Century.
