Firearms Awareness Training

These courses are designed to equip the candidate with the knowledge and skills required to undertake basic rifle, air rifle or shotgun shooting. They are ideal for beginners or novices wishing to improve their ability.

Firearms Awareness Training (Rifle)

This is a one-day course which will provide the novice or less experienced shot with a sturdy foundation of knowledge to improve their basic rifle shooting.

Safety issues will be dealt with in a classroom before candidates move on to the range for practical instruction covering shooting positions and rifle technique. You will have plenty of time on the range using both .22 rim-fire and centre-fire rifles.

You do not need to have a Firearms Certificate or your own rifle. Rifles and ammunition will be provided.

Firearms Awareness Training (Air Rifle)

This is a one-day course which will provide the novice or less experienced air rifle shot with a sturdy foundation of knowledge. Safety, law and technique will be dealt with in the classroom before candidates move on to the range for practical instruction covering shooting positions and air rifle technique. There will be plenty of time on the range for shooting both spring and precharged air rifles. You do not need to have your own air rifle; BASC air rifles will be available. You may of course bring your own air rifle; if you do, please also bring your current FAC if it is a FAC rated air rifle.

Firearms Awareness Training (Shotgun)

This is a one-day course which will provide novice or less experienced shotgun shots with a sturdy foundation of knowledge to improve their shooting ability. Safety, law and technique will be covered in the classroom before candidates move on to the ground for the practical aspects, which will deal with stance, eye dominance and shooting technique. There will be plenty of time on the clay ground for shooting a variety of shotgun types. You do not have to have your own shotgun, as these will be provided. If you have your own gun and want to use it on the course, please also bring your current shotgun certificate.

Cancellation Policy

Should there be insufficient bookings, BASC reserve the right to cancel the course. In the interests of fairness BASC will aim to provide candidates notification of cancellation as soon as possible prior to the advertised start date. We strongly recommend that fees for any accommodation you book are refundable as BASC will not be responsible for any losses incurred by candidates. If for any reason you cancel your place on the course then the following scale of charges may apply:-
